Shuo Tong was born in Jilin, China in March 1984. She obtained her BSc in chemistry in 2007 at Jilin University (China) and her PhD in 2013 from the Institute of Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS), Beijing, under the supervision of Professor Mei-Xiang Wang. She then joined Professor Jieping Zhu’s group at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) as a postdoctoral associate. After a 5-year research stay in Switzerland, she started her independent career as a Tenure-track principle investigator at Department of Chemistry at Tsinghua University in 2018.

She is interested in catalytic enantioselective transformations, multicomponent reactions, macrocyclic and supramolecular chemistry. The research group is devoted to develop chiral supramolecular system of inherently chiral macrocyclic compounds. To achieve this goal, they are exploring methods to synthesize and assemble enantiopure inherently chiral macrocyclic compounds.
