Professor Dr. Huaqiang Cao FRSC FIMMM

Huaqiang Cao received a Bachelor degree from Anhui Normal University in 1988, a Master degree from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 1997 and a Ph. D from Nanjing University in 2001. He joined Hefei Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences 1988-1994, and a member of the faculty of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences 1997-1999. He joined the Department of Chemistry of Tsinghua University as post-doctor in 2001, and associate professor from 2003-2012. He is now the Professor of chemistry from 2012. He was a Visiting Scholar of Department of Materials, Wolfson College, the University of Oxford from 2007-2008, and was a Senior Visiting Fellow of Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy, the University of Cambridge from 2014-2015.

Research Interests

His research focus is on functional materials to understand synthesis-structure-application relationships, with emphasis on studies related to low-dimensional nanomaterials, graphene-based nanomaterials, superhydrophobic materials, self-assembly, energy storage devices (Lithium ion battery, Ni-MH battery, and supercapacitor).
