近年来致力于分析化学、生物分析化学、化学生物学、单细胞分析化学、电化学环境及能源等领域的教学科研工作。在Science, Nat. Mater., Nat. Nanotech., Nat. Biomedical Engineering, Nat. Protocol等学术刊物上发表SCI论文500余篇,论文被他引>73,000次,H-index 135。2015-2024年连续五年入选汤森路透全球高被引科学家。获国家自然科学奖二等奖、教育部自然科学奖一等奖、北京市自然科学奖一等奖、中国分析测试协会科学技术一等奖等。任Chem. Soc. Rev.等二十余种国际期刊副主编和编委。
