《Advanced Materials》, from Wiley-VCH, which is one of the most important journal around the world in the field of material science, has published a special issue in March 2011 for the centennial celebration of Tsinghua University. Research progress in the fields including nano materials, carbon-based materials, organic optoelectronics, metal materials, functional soft materials and so on, are reported in this special issus. These new research progress are obtained just recently by the research groups from many departments of Tsinghua University, such as Department of Chemistry, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Physics, Tsinghua-Foxconn Nanotechnology Research Center, and so on, at the durative support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and the Ministry of Science and Technology. The Chair of Department of Chemistry, Academician of CAS, Prof. Xi Zhang write an editorial article titled "Chemistry and Physics at Play in Materials Science: the Centennial Celebration of Tsinghua University", dedicating the issue to 100-year-old Tsinghua University.
