Tsinghua-Netherlands Joint Symposium on Frontiers of Supramolecular Science was held on 11 April, 2012 in Room 301, Chemistry Building, Tsinghua University. About 100 researchers and students from Tsinghua and the Netherlands took part in the symposium. 10 wonderful lectures referred to concepts and recent progresses on fields of molecular recognition, functional molecular assembly, supramolecular polymerization, supramolecular catalysis, supramolecular chemical biology, and so on. The speakers included Dutch and Chinese scientists who are active in supramolecule field in recent years: they are Prof. Joost N. H. Reek. from University of Amsterdam, Prof. Luc Brunsveld and Prof. Jan C. M. van Hest from Eindhoven University of Technology, Prof. Jan van Esch Delft University of Technology, Prof. Bart Jan Ravoo from University of Muenster (Germany), and Prof. Meixiang Wang, Prof. Dongsheng Liu and Prof. Guangtao Li from Tsinghua University. This symposium was organized by the Innovative Research Groups (IRG) of Construction, manipulation and application of supramolecular systems,
which were supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) since 2012. The symposium was chaired by the group leader of IRG, Prof. Xi Zhang from Tsinghua University (China) as well as Prof. Jurriaan Huskens from University of Twente (the Netherlands). All the Chinese speakers in this symposium are key members of IRG. 17 students working in the IRG exhibited their posters and had thoroughly discussion with the scientists.
