The International Symposium on Frontiers of Macrocyclic and Supramolecular Chemistry was held at Chemistry Building during Dec. 20-22, 2012. Twelve scientists in the fields of macrocyclic and supramolecular chemistry gave their splendid lectures on the symposium. Over one hundred teachers and students from Fudan University, Institute of Chemistry (Chinese Academy of Sciences), Renmin University of China, East China Normal University, Beijing Normal University and Tsinghua University attended this symposium.
The sperkers, including Prof. Makoto Fujita from University of Tokyo (Japan), Prof. Jonathan L. Sessler from University of Texas at Austin (USA), Prof. Kenichiro Itami from Nagoya University (Japan), Prof. Bing Gong from State University of New York at Buffalo (USA), Prof. Wim Dehaen from KU Leuven, Prof. Pablo Ballester from Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (Spain), Prof. Tomoki Ogoshi from Kanazawa University (Japan), Prof. Zhan-Ting Li from Fudan University (China), Prof. Chuan-Feng Chen from Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (China), Prof. Dong-Sheng Guo from Nankai University, Prof. Xi Zhang and Prof. Mei-Xiang Wang from Tsinghua University, gave a series of lectures covered a wide range of frontiers of supramolecular chemistry such as the synthesis and structural studies of new macrocyclic host molecules, molecular recognition and self-assembly, supramolecular catalysis and supramolecular polymer.
The symposium provided a forum for participants to exchange their recent progresses on synthesis and application, as well as their viewpoint about the perspective of macrocyclic and supramolecular chemistry. It's also a great opportunity to improve the internationally academic communication for domestic and foreign colleagues who were working in the field of macrocyclic and supramolecular chemistry.
The symposium was sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and was organized by Prof. Mei-Xiang Wang, who was also the chairman of this symposium.
