Prof. Xi Zhang, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chair of the Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University, Vice president of the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS), took part in the 245th National Meeting & Exposition of American Chemical Society (ACS) hold in New Orleans during April 7-11, 2013. On behalf of CCS, Prof Xi Zhang signed the memorandum of collaboration for the next three years of ACS and CCS together with ACS Board of Directors Chair Dr. William F. Carroll, CEO of ACS Dr. Madeleine Jacobs and ACS President Dr. Marinda Li Wu. On the basic of the past collaboration, the new three-year collaboration alliance will emphasize communication including two bilateral symposiums for young scientists on sustainable development of energy, food, water and so on, the organization and coordination the Chemical Sciences and Society Summit (CS3), other collaborations in the fields like career development and training, scientific editing and publishing and so on.

ACS President Dr. Marinda Li Wu also organized the international forum for presidents of chemical societies during the meeting. Presidents of chemical societies from Germany, UK, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, Hungary, Romania, and so on, were invited to discuss the development and challenge of future chemistry. Prof. Xi Zhang gave a talk titled "Advancing Chemistry through Sharing more International Responsibilities".
