Dr. Sébastien Garnier from BASF Auxiliary Chemicals Co. Ltd., Shanghai (China) gave a lecture titled "Innovation at BASF: Advanced Materials & Systems on Innovation Campus in Shanghai" for the teachers and students of the Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University, at room 406 of Hetian Building in May 10th, 2013.
After abrief introduction about the history, current scale as well as the R&D direction of BASF, Dr. Sébastien Garnier focused his introduction on the corporateculture, strategic objectives in the next five years, as well as the recruitmentin Asia. He highlighted that BASF paid continued attentions to the collaboration of R&D with universities and research institutes. Another visit aiming for discussion on the scholarship, talents training and joint symposium with Tsinghua University will be paid in near future. After the lecture, the teachers and students of the Department of Chemistry, Tsinghua University, further discussed with Dr. Sébastien Garnier on topics like choosing applied research projects, the suitable collaborators, the transfer of basic research to the application, and so on. It's an opportunity for both BASF and Tsinghua University to know better about each.
Dr. Sébastien Garnier joined BASF in 2006, after he obtained PhD Degree at University of Potsdam in the same year. He served as Lab leader in Ludwigshafen (Germany), which focuses on polymer research, functional Intermediate polymers &polyurethanes. He served as manager for BASF European Recruiting "Research & Development and Business Centers" in BASF Services Europe GmbH, Berlin (Germany) during 2010-2012. He started to serve as Senior Manager Scouting and BASF Postdoc Center Asia Pacific in BASF Auxiliary Chemicals Co. Ltd., Shanghai (China) since 2012.
